| Rescue verb To set free, as from danger or imprisonment, save (all definitions from yourDictionary.com) Our Mission: Each
year many equines are euthanized. The reasons are as numerous as the
horses themselves. Maybe its due to the horse's age, or perhaps
physical maladies. Often, people become horse owners without fully
realizing what it involves or buy a horse that is just "too much
horse" for their riding ability. Perhaps the owner cannot afford the
financial responsibilities or the physical demands of horse ownership. And
sometimes, the unexpected happens and the person simply cannot care for the
horse any longer. All of these situations breed a sense of hopelessness and
frustration. The owner may believe there is just no other choice for
the horse other than having it put down.
Here are Lady and Lobo, the official "welcoming committee" at Tiny Timbers
Every year, many horses will also be sold at "sale barns". The well-meaning owner often might believe that their horse will go to a loving new home. Although, this may be true in some cases, but a frightening majority of equines that are sold will end up on a truck bound for slaughter. It is a myth that only old horses go to slaughter for dog food. This simply is not true. Any horses are fair game for the slaughter house: foals, pregnant mares, show horses, race horses, there is no horse that's exempt. In addition, many horses are sold for human consumption around the world. The Alternative
We at Tiny Timbers would like to offer a humane alternative. If you have an old friend, companion, or "equine child" you no longer can keep for whatever reason, PLEASE think of donating your equine to Tiny Timbers Horse Rescue. Or, if you know someone who doesn't know about us, PLEASE think of us and give that horse a second chance. We can guarantee your horse medical care, food and shelter. But more importantly, we will provide a good loving home, with kind hands and open hearts to care for all their special needs until the end of their lives. We can't
do it alone. We at Tiny Timbers constantly need your support either by way of
donations of any kind or volunteering your time. If you can offer anything
whether it is materials or time, no matter how much it is, to us it is a big
help!
